Password Managers Help Keep Your Passwords Safe! 🔐

Hi everyone!

You may have heard that it's Cyber Security Awareness Month! I'm continuing on with my series of cyber security tips and advice by today talking about Password Managers. 🙂

Do you use more than one password? (You should!) Where do you record your passwords? Hopefully you don't write them down and stick them on your screen! 🙈

If you use Google Chrome or Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge, the chances are that you are already using a password manager and don't even know it!

A Password Manager is a software tool that can help you create, save and use your passwords in everyday life. Password Managers are more typically web-based and app-based meaning that you can access your saves passwords from anywhere, assuming you have access to your mobile device or the Internet. Password Managers typically require you to sign in with a master username and password (make that master password STRONG! 🏋‍♂️) and have the following benefits:

- They help you make STRONGER passwords (no more 'Password1!' for you!)
- They REMEMBER the passwords for you so you DON'T have to!
- They strengthen the SECURITY of your passwords by encrypting your passwords, making them HARDER to steal
- They're great for TEAMS or FAMILIES where you might SHARE certain passwords amongst each other
- They often use MFA to further secure access to your passwords
- They are often a LOW COST solution with some services costing as little as $10 a year!

We are moving towards a world where passwords will be swapped for 'Passwordless Authentication' and we'll be talking more about that next time. For now though, passwords are still a MAJOR part of our working and personal lives and it's a WISE move to consider using a Password Manager to help keep your stuff safe!

Not all Password Managers are created Equal and I encourage you to do your own research or reach out to me if you'd like some recommendations to get you started!

Thanks again for reading and I hope you have a great day! 😊
